    UX Designer will shape (strategy, research, design, innovate, implement, maintain, optimize) how customers discover, consider, use, and interact our products on the web. You'll bring both the art of design and the science of human interaction to challenge the status quo and deliver an unparalleled experience. 

    What You'll Do Here:

    Strategic:

    • Define the balance between an appealing interface with an intuitive, and easy to use experience.
    • Determine and execute the best responsive strategy and work closely with engineers to maintain the integrity of the user experience on any device.
    • Stay close to the customer. Attend and participate in regular user studies to validate product concept and designs, then iterate on designs based on customer feedback.
    • Analyze performance reports and provide regular recommendations on improving efficiency.
    • Act as the user-advocate during the design and development process, subjecting early-stage designs to usability testing or authority review, and offering implementation suggestions from a user-centered design perspective.
    • Act as “go to” with in-depth knowledge of user interface standard methodologies and standards.

    Implementation:

    • Direct the visual hierarchy, behavior, and appearance of all new features and improvements on our web properties.
    • Initiate, suggest, and spearhead interface re-factorings for a more intuitive user-experience.
    • Develop wireframes, behavioral specifications and personas.
    • Develop user flows for the customer journey to build a cohesive web presence.
    • Inform the behavior and visual presentation of new features and improvements to the website by supplying to requirements and documentation.
    • Create mockups and functional prototypes for regular usability tests.
    • Maintain, implement and give to design guidelines.
    • Ensure consistency of user flow, visual presentation and application of existing branding across Cengage websites, sub-sites and applications.

    Skills You Will Need Here:

    • You have an online portfolio full of your work (designs, prototypes, and sketches) that you are excited to share.
    • Have 3+ years experience designing compelling websites, web applications, responsive web apps, eCommerce applications, emails, and landing pages at an agency or in-house corporation.
    • Have the ability to self-manage scope and deadlines in fast-paced agile environment.
    • You are proficient in Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision and Acrobat.
    • You have experience designing for disabled users and familiarity with WCAG standards.
    • You have a basic understanding of HTML5 and CSS3.
    • Familiarity with JavaScript, jQuery, and Twitter Bootstrap framework preferred.
    • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Visual Design, Web Design, Interactive Media, Computer Science, or a related technical field or 3+ years of equivalent practical experience.
