What You'll Do Here:

The Senior International Financial Analyst will be a vital member of a small International HQ team. S/he will be charged with bringing transparency, consistency and accountability to CL International’s go-to-market performance at a customer level.  S/he will work cross-functionally to develop metrics, pipelines and tracking tools which enable global management to drive fact-based performance in concert with local management.


The position performs monthly, weekly and daily compilation of international sales dashboards for Higher Ed (HE), English Language Teaching (ELT) and Gale divisions. Dashboards are communicated to Headquarter (HQ) management, regional executives, and regional sales and marketing directors.  Dashboards include historical customer activity, budget expectations, CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) expectations, and latest forecasts.  This position collects regional feedback and updates dashboards on a dynamic and iterative basis.


  • Build and maintain sales reporting dashboards, and communicates results to appropriate management teams
  • Performs sales analysis by customer, product line and discipline using large data sets gathered from multiple systems and utilizing advanced excel data manipulation techniques
  • Automate reporting tools via interfaces with regional ERPs, regional CRM, and consolidations tools. Provides leadership on process improvement initiatives in support of Cengage Global Business (CGB) goals
  • Liaise frequently with teams in Australia, Asia, EMEA, Latin America and the US – across HE, ELT and Gale teams - to request, interpret, and consolidate data
  • Marry CRM and other tools to disaggregate distributor billings data to the end customer, to the extent possible
  • Maintain a comprehensive, consistent and readily accessible database of historical International trend data
  • Build price-volume analysis to ensure regions are capturing the highest possible price, and to ensure discounting is in line with policy
  • Work with Cengage Technology Services and Finance teams to add Cengage International to standardized digital reporting
  • Maintain, track and analyze international cash flow forecast
  • Oversee purchase order process for US-based international expenditures
  • Ad hoc support for assessment of large institution deals as required
  • Performs other duties as needed to meet the goals of the team

Skills You Will Need Here:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Business
  • Minimum 3 years related experience in financial reporting, planning, forecasting, analysis, and month-end close
  • Adapts well to fast-pace environment and rapidly changing priorities and activities
  • Proficient with financial reporting and planning software and general ledger systems (HFM, Hyperion Essbase-Smartview, Data Warehouse)
  • Strong proficiency with MS tools, especially Excel and Access
  • Exhibits initiative and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Excellent detail-orientation with ability to multitask and respond to competing priorities
  • Ability to contribute constructively in team-oriented environment with rapidly changing priorities and time pressures
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral with ability to communicate complex business information to a range of audiences
  • Industry experience in publishing, software, or related content business preferred
  • International experience preferred
