The District Manager position is responsible for hiring, training and the on-going development of team members. Identifies and handles performance issues. Creates strategic and tactical plans to lead the team towards exceeding sales goals. Facilitates product sessions and team meetings. Fosters a positive and productive team environment. Responsible for team sampling budget and various sales incentives. Forecasts sales and provides marketing feedback to publishing partners.

 

What You'll Do Here:

  • Oversee daily sales activities of the inside sales team to meet daily metrics and sales goals.
  • Drive sales by partnering with sales reps, marketing, editorial, digital solutions managers, institutional solutions directors, as well as other various peer groups to create new leads and close business.
  • Support inside sales team in the creation, planning and prioritizing of individual closing strategies resulting in increased sales.
  • Assist inside sales team in the identification of short and long term adoption potential in their given geographic territory.
  • Work with the sales team and customer editors to drive custom business within their territories.
  • Partner with the inside sales team to drive digital sales opportunities within each representative’s territory.
  • Partner with Regional Manager by providing updates on current business trends.
  • Model and reinforce Consultative Selling Skills framework, resulting in a targeted approach to identifying, qualifying and closing business opportunities.
  • Hire and develop top talent into the organization.
  • Responsible for succession planning of the inside sales team including coaching and mentoring for the next step in their career.
  • Strategic analysis of territories by ensuring efficient and effective use of internal key sales tools including Magellan and Data Warehouse to increase opportunity potential.

Skills You Will Need Here:

Required:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the college textbook sales process.
  • BA or BS degree.
  • Two years sales experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective management and prioritization of ongoing multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with internal peers to accomplish goals.

Preferred:

  • Publishing experience preferred.
  • Strong presentation skills preferred.
