What You'll Do Here:

  • Oversee inventory management for all Cengage business units—work directly with cross-functional leaders to establish best-in-class inventory management goals, policies and parameters, analysis, and improvement initiatives
  • Design new business processes to support improved and accurate integrated forecasting between supply chain, manufacturing, distribution center operations, product finance, sales, and marketing
  • Create new ways of working to regularly adjust automated and manual inventory controls to optimize company resources
  • Evaluate and pursue business process improvement opportunities based on their fit with broader strategies across the supply chain—e.g., supply network changes, insource/outsource choices, etc.
  • Lead critical analysis and implementation across teams on a project basis to help company achieve strategic objectives pertaining to the supply chain
  • Drive problem solving during escalations to quickly eliminate inventory problems
  • Lead team of inventory analysts, senior analysts, and directors.  Create culture of accountability, excellent analysis, cross-functional data gathering and information flow.  Implement performance metrics aligned with financial and operational goals
  • Drive cultural change beyond the team, infusing an understanding of supply chain methodology and knowledge among other leaders; influencing decisions at all levels of the organization
  • Function as member of HES Operations Leadership Team and actively drive culture, communication, efficiency, and effectiveness improvements
  • Leverage and manage indirect resources to advance project goals

Skills You Will Need Here:

  • BA/BS with high proven achievement – MBA a plus
  • 10+ years' experience with supply chain topics such as inventory management, warehouse operations, and S&OP / forecasting
  • 5+ years previous consulting and/or strategy experience at a top tier consulting firm or equivalent experience at a technology, media, or education firm preferred.
  • Overall, 8-10 years of professional experience. 
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive and execute quantitative analysis and deliver data-driven insights
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills
  • Demonstrated writing and verbal presentation skills enabling her/him to prepare and present information and recommendations to a diverse and often senior audience
  • Able to self-manage progress and deliverables with a high degree of accountability and personal urgency
  • 5+ years of leading and managing both direct reports and virtual teams
  • Interest and / or previous experience in education, software, and/or publishing industries a plus
  • Comfort with and eagerness to tackle ambiguous problems
  • Highly collaborative and able to influence. Should embrace, support and practice a collaborative style which goes beyond relationship building. Will achieve results with and through others
  • Travel expected (10-20%)
